Sr. Merchandising Analyst

The merchandising analyst is an important member of the merchandising team responsible for setting and implementing products. He/she is also responsible for setting and implementing merchandising and promotions strategies that drive sales and margins for the chain. The merchandising analyst must have strong analytical skills and be able to work independently and with the team. He/she brings a unique skill and perspective to this team, ensuring that decisions are equally analytical and intuitive.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze sales and margin trends and make recommendation regarding product positioning and pricing
  • Review historical sales and forecast promotions and new product sales
  • Work with merchandising managers to position and price product line to maximize sales and margins
  • Continuously review product sales and lifecycles and recommend pricing and liquidations strategies for mature products; work with material planners to liquidate products as needed
  • Work with merchandising managers to maintain current database of competitive prices
  • Work with marketing managers to analysis effectiveness of various advertising programs on sales and margins
  • Work with merchandising team to develop and manage new product introductions and design cost-effective promotions to exit slow-moving products

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in business, economics, or sciences
  • 5+ years experience as merchandising analyst in retail or consumer product business
  • Work experience with relational databases and statistics packages
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, data manipulation and planning skills
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Open and willing to learn
  • Good oral and written communication skills

We will invest roughly 3 months setting up the merchandising analyst for success at BTG. The development plan will be individualized but will include time in stores understanding the customer and how our products are sold and will include other roles within our organization so he/she can learn the business, develop the skills and internal relationship needed to be successfully in this role.
